The message from Kenneth Newman rises higher:
KN> On 07-19-97 DENNIS MCCUNNEY wrote to KENNETH NEWMAN...
DM> Possibly, but you might not want it. Jack the Lad were an electric
DM> folk bad along the lines of Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, and
DM> the J.S.D Band. I love that stuff, but proggie it ain't.
KN>
KN> Prog folk discussion is allowed here.
KN>
KN> So anyway, there's a bit of a continuum there with
KN> Fairport and Steeley Span being more towards one end and
KN> JSD band and Lindisfarne at the other, if you catch my
KN> meaning. Where does Jack the Lad fit in all this?
I bought a fantastic Prog folk album called _Swaddling Songs_ by a band
called Mellow Candle. Have you heard this? There are two female
vocalists who play off one another, and the band is excellent
anyway. It's fantastic stuff.
Also, Stuart got a CD by a pretty cool Prog Folk band called
Broselmaschine (sp?), a German band. I may have to get this one myself.
It's not as emotional as Mellow Candle and is a little more subdued, but
I like it.
NP: "Times Have Changed" -- Supertramp
(I'm glad I pulled this out again. I'm liking this album, _Indelibly
Stamped_, more than I remember)
