DW>Yep, the little blighter uses it's own memory (EEPROM) so it is pretty DW>much self contained. It samples 8 bit with very low distortion Hmm.. I like the '8bit with low distortion' but I want to get at the samples! DW>This could be a problem, the unit is designed to operate pretty much on DW>it's own, it isn't the best communicator around. In other words, you DW>can store 128k of audio into it (at line level, or straight from a mic) DW>but you can't get at that memory to extract the data stream! It works DW>great for handling a number of set messages for responding to user DW>input, errors, in game messages etc, but you can't store these to disk! DW> Sad aint it! Ah well, not as good as it first seems :( Any software written for it would be specific to anyone who owned one. The good thing with a conventional sampler is that the samples can be played back on any 64 through the good old SID chip. But I am yet to find one with decent quality. If you manage to figure out how to access the memory (or better, get straight to the sampler & just sample to 64 memory) then let me know. Otherwise, no sale!
