ND> I further know this was provided by Auke Reitsma (Our very distinguished
ND> previous moderator and top C programmer.)
Unless you suspect Auke of being the next moderator, there is no need to suck
up to him. However, even if he was a big enough suc-, er, if he volunteered
again, his memory wouldn't be long enough to remember any such niceties. :-)
Now, if you were to INSULT him in a PUBLIC, INTERNATIONAL echo, such as, say,
THIS one, he'd probably remember. :->
No insult intended to Auke (this time ), but by singling out Auke as our
"top C programmer" I think you do a disservice to others who shall remain
nameless only because that would be singling them out as well, and probably
miss others. This would be like singling me out as the most dangerous (to
himself) person posting here - even Sunir's legacy is bigger than I could
ever be, thus singling me out would do a disservice to him. :-) Oh hold it,
I don't think Sunir was roped into moderating here, whereas I was co-mod and
now mod of C_PLUSPLUS. Oh yeah, nevermind, he moderated the GAMEDEV echo.
:-)
Anyway, personally, I just refer to the lot of them as our "gurus"... when
they're that far (into C, out to lunch, whatever), the rest of us really
couldn't tell which one is the best (or worst, depending on your viewpoint
) to point a single one out.
Before we get schmuked (or, rather, just me) by Tom as off-topic...
ND> The following line my compiler does not like
ND> argv += cfgf;
Looks legal to me... if argv is not an array. I can't recall how argv was
declared in this program...
char** argv, char* argv[], ... these should be legal.
What error message are you getting? What compiler? What version?
