Dam it. I hit 'lose' accidentally instead of 'save' so I have to do this again.... ahhhh!!! I'll submit two things I DO like a bout qwk door. You can set it up so you don't dnld 'messages to you' and the qwk door deletes dupes (that is if you forgot whether or not you uploaded certain replies or not.... you'll know if you did as you'll see "duplicate deleted" in the upload list. ((Sometimes I get those two terms mixed up.) ................................ JB> It was that I was referring to. A sysop always has to work to set up a JB> sub-node. If you can request and drop echoes to your point, that is a JB> new feature since I have seen it. If a person calls as any user, they JB> can - as always - tag or drop echoes with a call in to toggle JB> anything. As the board to call here, is also the NEC's, there's JB> paltry he doesn't carry, and he's *very* hospitable to turning things JB> on with a simple request. Most sysops don't mind adding new echos to their bbs but if it's one there's blacklisted users for he or she might be reluctant. ................ JB> I don't know what gave you the idea, but a BBS is still my preference JB> for myself also. I have too many machines on the go at any time, that JB> I like to also equip to run fido. Two specifically, are traded off on We agreed on one point and not another which is okay. I think we agree every 'way of doing things' has both plusses and minuses. Akin to choosing climates to live in. Your choice hinges on what you like the best and then what you're willing to put up with out of the disliked. JB> the chore often, so pointing would require me to network those two, JB> plus any other coming online. That can *always* be a crap shoot for a JB> newly functioning system, as NICs sometimes putter out, or are having JB> resource arguments, et al. I see :) .... JB> You can pass-through, and request echoes the boss doesn't carry? I think they get the echos right off the backbone. I'll check this out with my bossnode. ......... JB> And the only real trouble with BW and Y2K was with running it through JB> the QWK door. It's really a shame more don't run the BW door, as I've nod I remember! Oh btw I used bwave DOOR on one bbs, with the olmr quite nicely. Nice thing was you could use the door's twit filter instead of having to use the reader's filter. (So the twit messages never get ON your system in the first place marked as 'red')... but then someone said FIdONET doesn't like that practice. I forget the details on this issue. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, CH> bless his heart, got me set up with it. *Had some troubles but worked CH> them all through). Now I'm with Jack Yates and he helped me alter what CH> needed altering. We both survived! :) Frank had inspired my needed CH> confidence and patience that Jack expected and well ... demanded. :) JB> It's all just a series of steps either way. Like anything I expect. Yeah it is like everything. Different strokes for different folks. CH> .................. CH> mine. I'm grateful for the service. JB> There was a point who would pole me for a bit. There were two or three Poll :) I used to say TOLL until I was kindly corrected. :) If someone poled you it might hurt! :) (playing with words here). JB> files to edit, and the syntax had to match, and vary in the right JB> places. Get it right, it just worked. Get one character wrong, and it JB> wouldn't. It's one thing I've never gotten used to to this day. When I JB> try to manually type in my USB UPS, I never get much further than JB> recognizing the gibberish the power supply issues, and nothing further JB> comes of it. I can pull the plug on the power, and the battery drains, JB> and it won't even faze the OS that it should shut down. gee I don't know I just live here JB> Maybe I just show my obstinacy, but I refuse to take 'no' as a valid JB> answer. Maybe that's my strength, but it can also be my weakness. I JB> just want to make sure it's not my undoing. I never take no for an answer! :) Well unless it's explained, maybe.. CH> ... I'm just moving clouds today; tomorrow I'll try mountains This gets cut off into next message where I made you laugh! :) Glad of it too. Cindy ... That's not a bug. It's supposed to do that. --- PPoint 3.01* Origin: Up a palm tree (1:3613/1275.13) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 3613/1275 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
