My son was diagnosed as bipolar by the psychiatrist who did screening for our 
HMO.  This was after my son had been evaluated by a multidiscipline team at 
one of the best pediatric centers in the area, and diagnosed by them as ADD.
The team at the pediatric center spend days examining my son and interviewing 
the entire family; the HMO psychiatrist had not had a chance to look at my 
son's file, nor did he have time to actually observe my son.  He just "knew 
these cases."
He was the first and last who ever thought my son was bipolar, and we went 
over his head.  Personally, I think he was a danger to society.
