Well, yah -- are YOU going to pay full price to the newsroom, reporters,
telecasting media technology, etc?

Not likely, but you DO want news beamed into your living room for no
effort or cost on your part, right?

Thus the ads. . .

Nobody in the news company is there as a volunteer -- they all have
mortgages & families to pay for. . .

Thus, they expect a fair paycheque -- and if YOU aren't going to pay it,
then they have no choice but to go to someone who WILL!!! (and they,
effectively, become the employer and content-chooser!)
