JD> My mother-in-law has an old gas refrigerator that she's had for many
JD> years, and it still works fine. Served her well during the hurricane of
JD> '54.
They still make them. I bought one a couple of years ago for my cabin,
its a little smaller than a house fridge. What amazes me is how just
a pilot light can run it, the freezer section is extremely cold. Its
made by Norcold of Sidney, Ohio. I called the factory to get a service
manual and asked if they sell many, they said their market is mostly
Amish. I bought it through Kansas Wind Power.
Reading through the manual it says its an absorbtion type system, and
it has a backup electric heater in case you run out of propane, but it
says to only use electric in an emergency because it is very inefficient.
No problem, I don't have electric there. I'd like to know how it works.
