I saw an 8 track of _For Your Pleasure_ yesterday! Looked like the
foam pads need replacing, and the label was pretty wrinkled (pink,
with no artwork, just the track listing - :-P ) but other than that,
it appeared to be in good condition. 50 cents, if you want me to
pick it up for you... The _Jesus K. Reist Superstar_ 8 track was
in worse condition or I prolly woulda picked it up. _This Is The
Moody Blues_ wasn't bad, but it was only one tape of a 2 tape set.
Four Elvis tapes looked to be in minty condition, but even at half
a clam each they were not appealing... No prog content to speak
of, either...
I'm a pretty big fan of the first four Roxy Music albums, and if
Clark likes _Viva_, I 'd recommend _Country Life_ or _Stranded_
next. If he doesn't like the music, the cover art should
compensate somewhat...
CR> _Avalon_, which is OK for some light jazzy kind of stuff, but it
CR> doesn't have the teeth that this live material does.
KN> Roxy was better with edges IMO
Quite agree. _Siren_ had its moments, but later stuff like "Dance
Away" and "Over You" had to be appreciated at a different level,
if at all... As for _Avalon_, I can never remember what any of it
sounds like when I get done listening to it.
KN> Speaking of which, you need a copy of Quiet

Seconded.

KN> There's some debate as to how wonderful they are and I'm
KN> never one to insist all agree with me, but I think
KN> they're probably not very far up your alley.
They were really more country- or singer/songwriter- rock than
psychedelic, so it depends how that fits with your tastes...
I think their debut is better than Jefferson Airplane's or
Buffalo Springfield's or the Grateful Dead's... But unfortunately
_Moby Grape_ (like _It's A Beautiful Day_) was inarguably the
band's high water mark... And it's all downhill once you've passed
your peak, as some famous philosopher once sang.
KN> NP: Yes _Tormato_ which is a much better album than we thought it
 KN> was at the time.
Is it bar time already? Last call, gentlemen!
