Hi,
I'm kinda thinking out loud here. I'd like your opinions and observations,
please.
I've had, for some time, a system that will print 'normal' text characters
to SCREEN 12 using 80cols x 30rows and capable of using any of the 256
attributes just like text mode. What I'm thinking about doing is expanding
upon this so I can save/restore the data on the screen in just 4800 bytes per
screen instead of 153,600 if it is stored as graphics.
The theory is to keep 'copies' of the screens in memory as if they were a
text screens. This would allow quicker(?) and, most definitely, smaller saves
so a windowing system would be very easy on the available memory.
Other benefits, of course, would be the mouse pointer, more 'room' on the
screen, pictures, graphs, pages, etc.
Watch'a think?
Am I spinning my wheels?
Any ideas on how to get this done easier?
TIA,
