Hi Jim
JD> This is getting off-topic, so I'll end with this:
JD> Go to your library and get a copy of Dr. Paul Erlich's "The Population
JD> Bomb". Read his scary predictions of disaster, then read the timeline.
OK. The library truck arrives here weekly.
JD> We have more known oil reserves (in terms of years of use) at the moment
JD> than we did in 1950.
In terms of years of use, the reserves will be everlasting. But there may be
a sick, small world population "enjoying" same.
Prices of any commodity reflect its scarcity and cost
JD> of production, plus its value to society.
When the shopping malls have reverted to cornfields, who'll want an auto? No
place to visit! ;-) Our descendants will be too busy grubbing for yams
outside the family hole-in-the-ground, to want to go travelling.
Now you go to your library, and see if they have a history of the Scottish
island called St Kilda. It really happened, starved frozen community of very
many generations which abandoned the island in the 1920s. The Population Bomb
went off for them, in our parents' lifetimes.
Cheers......ALEC
