Mulling over Jeff Snyder to Steve Asher 24 Apr 2009 JS> I certainly wouldn't want to be in charge of one of those bus JS> companies, and I most certainly would refuse to drive one of those JS> buses which proclaims that God does not exist, if I were a JS> Christian bus driver. I would fight it tooth and nail. Are you JS> aware of any cases where a Christian bus driver has gone to court JS> over this issue? If so, how did they fare? If I recall correctly, the bus company respected the bus driver's request not to drive these buses, and reassigned him to another bus. SA> Britain is accommodating its muslim minority, while repressing its SA> (professing) Christian majority - banning "Saint George" parades, SA> renaming Christmas as Winterval, serving halal food to all children SA> in some schools, not having "piggy banks" in bank branches because SA> it "offends" the minority, and so on. JS> I find the level of political correctness which has overtaken the JS> world in recent years absolutely appalling. So in Britain it is now JS> Winterval, and in the USA it is "Happy Holidays". Truly sad...not JS> that Jesus was born anywhere near that time of the year, but still. JS> It seems to me that all of this compromise is slowly leading to a JS> unified world government, and a unified world religion, but it JS> certainly won't represent the things that I believe in. I accept that Jesus was not born on or about the 25th December, it is a holiday to honour His birth, in much the same way that Queen Elizabeth was not born in June, but we have a "Queen's Birthday" holiday in June. There are a number of steps here - one is to trivialise the message of Christ's birth by replacing it with Father Christmas, presents, sending cards and a "festive season" which includes Christmas and New Year. Another is to eliminate the "reason for the season" in Jesus Christ, and sell "holiday trees" and the like. Target in the USA sells these; the Australian Target continues to sell Christmas trees (regardless of whether the trees are pagan in origin & nothing to do with Christ's birth - yet another issue). Again, Easter, regardless of its origins, has become a time of celebrating rabbits and eggs, with little public recognition of Jesus' death for our sins and subsequent resurrection.
