  Well, they're awfully intriguing, and this is from a relatively early Next 
Generation article.  I know for sure that it uses a Hitachi 200 MHz, 64-bit 
RISC CPU and the PowerVR SG next-generation 3D chip ("better than Model 3," 
they always say).  I've heard its CD drive is anywhere from 4X (still good 
compared to today) to 12X speed, its RAM is anywhere from 8-16 MB (probably 
towards the higher end of the scale), and it may or may not have a modem.  I 
hear the controllers have a "Tamagotchi-quality" LCD screen that lets you do 
various things - such as, possibly, choosing plays privately in a football 
game.
  Basically, Sega's trying to give everyone a decent reason to try their 
system, or so it would seem.

  That's not evidence, that's a broad generalization (and exaggeration, to 
boot).  Ask Troy H. Cheek here if "no one liked it" and "no one cared," he'll 
tell you quite a different answer than you'd expect.
  About the buttons... did it ever occur to you that you didn't have to use 
every single button, and that the existence of said buttons allowed for 
better play of some games (such as the Doom port)?
  By the way, according to Troy, there have been about 63 titles for the 
Jaguar.

  I think so.  The same thing happened with the Saturn - by the time it came 
out, it was "old hat" and not quite the money magnet.

  Well, technically programs ARE released for other OSes - you can run Quake 
II on Linux, GL-accelerated even, by downloading a few files.  Crack dot 
Com's Golgotha will even have the ability to run on Linux right out of the 
box!
  But I AM stretching here... generally, you won't find huge Mac or Linux 
sections in stores.

  I didn't ever really see ads, but I heard a lot about them.  For what you 
were getting, I hear it was good.  I believe Capcom's doing ports of 2D 
fighters on the PSX that probably would have run more smoothly on a Neo Geo.  
Of course, there were no 3D features, but still...
