Sounds like you have a great little rig! There are quite a
few books that have been published over the years regarding
Austin Mini's. Check with Classic Motorbooks and check the
ads for book sellers in some of the car magazines. They have
raced these quite successfully since they were first produced
and you should be able to track down all sorts of "warm" parts
for it. The Mini Cooper was quite satisfying right from the
factory....maybe you could start by doing the primary Cooper
mods... I remember a company making a Weber conversion for
these that made tuning/driving a lot more pleasant. If you do
your homework, your modification should enhance your car and
its value, along with its enjoyment for you.
