Your problem sounds just like the problem I am having. My problem
was with Netscape so I installed IE 4.01 and am having the same problem. I
hooked up my lap top which is running 95 and it works fine. The main
difference is the modems. On my home system I use a USR Courier v everything
including the latest v90. My lap top has a Rockwell based modem. My ISP is
swbell.com and I checked their support and they are in process of installing
56K type of modems which according to them, USR modems won't connect at the
57,600 only at the 33,600. I am not sure if the modems are the problem but
it sure could be. I am going to call their tech support and see if I can get
some answers.
