I'm currently using CDUP3, which I've tried with several 'not
certified' CDROM-players, but being not certified did not seem
to bother the combination at all (even some cheap players
Windows'95 wouldn't even recognize....)

Using a toshiba XM5302 (4*speed) with CDUP3 works fine ('not
certified' according to the driver), so I see no reason why a
faster member of the Toshiba IDE-series should have any problem.
Somewhere does happen something strange when I load the drivers
according to de manual of CDUP3 (using 2 IDE-players, I can only
access one of them). Using the following lines in my autoexec.ncf,
thing go a lot better:
load IDEATA PORT=1F0 INT=E
load cdrom
unload idecd
load idecd
It might have to do with the controller (on-board) or something
else, but you could try this.
Bye,
Martin.
