SB> v1.02 is the latest, with rumors that v1.1 will be ready in
 SB> april.
 JL>
JL> I've seen that on the Hursley site. Do you know what any of the
JL> differences will be between 1.1 and 1.02?

I haven't really looked at Java yet: I'm waiting for my new
computer, which should arrive in two weeks. Then I'll install all I
need and look more closely at Java. Also, since v1.1 is rumored to
be here soon, I prefer to wait for it and not have to unlearn some
things I picked up from v1.02. And as far as v1.02 goes, I haven't
even looked at it. All I've done with Java is download the v1.01 and
created a small Hello world applet and application. That's it.
However, I do try to keep up to date on Java, as it seems very
promising.

v1.1 fixes some bugs found in previous versions, but also
incorporates new features. One of these is internalisation: displaying
currency and date/time in a format proper to the user's country. There
are other factors involved, but I couldn't comment on them. Also, what
other features v1.1 adds I couldn't tell. But as with every program,
you'd rather have v1.1 than v1.02. Also, Sun has released v1.11, which
corrects some bugs from v1.1.

JL> Funny. I've just downloaded it.

Then you should be able to figure out what v1.1 adds: there
are many v1.1 icons, and there should also be a What's New section
somewhere.

JL> The Dummie series isn't that expensive. I'll check it out. Though I
JL> would like to delve deeper into java then just the beginning stuff.
JL> (After I get the beginning stuff down pat that is!)

Yup, can't go straight to advanced stuff .
