Hi Josh
JW> What is a "Cheap" way to get in to RTTY? I am interested in it!!
Are you even a little bit handy with a soldering iron?
If so, find a program called Hamcomm. It's up to about version 3.0.
In it the .docs you will find plans for a "compatator" interface.
It uses a 741 op-amp and about 10 other small parts, all can be bought at
Radio Shack for about $10. You can also post a note to Willaim Nolle on
the Shortwave or Ham echos and ask for pricing on his FAXCAP.
This is the same circuit I just mentioned built inside a DB-25 plug for
you PC. On the other end is an 1/8" audio jack to connect to you sw
radio.
Hamcomm is a very slick program but you'll need some good strong signals
to practice on and a ton of patience. :-)
