I just popped an audioCD in my cdrom player and fired up the CD player in the
Multimedia folder, and guess what? When I clicked Options, there were four
selections: Auto play, Repeat, Shuffle Tracks and Digital Transfer, BUT the
option Digital Tranfer were *greyed out*, meaning that DT isn't possible, at
least not under Warp3 with the AIC7870.add SCSI driver.
So I can only draw one conclusion in light of the fact that digital transfer
IS POSSIBLE from straight DOS using Adaptec's ASPI8DOS.SYS and ASPICD.SYS
drivers; that the AIC7870.ADD, OS2SCSI.DMD or OS2ASPI.DMD are shitty, buggy
or incomplete.
I think I shall go out on the Net, grab a NT grabbing program and test if my
NT4 Server installation allows me to do an digital grab from my NEC CDROM,
just for the hell of it. If NT4 allow me to do a digital grab but not Warp3,
well, then I think the writers of the three basedevs mentioned above should
get five lashes with the cat o'nine tails ... :-) I'm *no* friend of NT, but
if dire necessity forces me to use it, then let it be written and let it be
done - I'm creeping death.... :-)
