Hi Kathy,
   You should see the poor little patient I have right now. I won't go into 
the details leading up to the birds injury its very lengthy and extremely 
upsetting. He is a 4 month old Budgie who had his tail feathers pinners and 
all torn out. His little behind is bare, he was left for nearly 2 hours 
before he was found, he was next to dead, in shock and his little butt was 
raw meat.
   I put him on anti-biotics,used anti-biotic ointment on his behind and for 
the first 24 hrs fed him every 3 hours softbilled food mixed with water and 
meds with a syringe. It is one week later and he is eating on his own, 
learning to walk again without a tail for balance and has chirped once. He 
still sleeps alot but he's doing very good
