subject: Flying...the ultimate exp

BG> Paul, I do NOT refuse to fly at all. I may feel a bit nervous during

flying, these days, is so boring that the take off is the only bit of

excitement left (: i think i've felt nervous about takeoff 3 times

1 waiting for the winch rope to be attached on the first solo in a

glider (16 years old and in dire need of fresh underpants).

2 stepping off a hill for the first time strapped to a collection of

  aluminium tubes and sailcloth.

3 sitting in the back seat of an ancient jet trainer (no ejector seats)

with the pilot going through the emergency procedures while waiting

for clearance, and thinking that if anything went wrong, we were

  fucked!

when i worked at rae, we used to usually spend the takeoff leaning on

the back of the pilot's seat looking over his head. if the "scientifics"

strapped in, it used to scare the pants off the aviators, they knew that

we had done something iffy to the autopilot (:

BG> and would happily have another bike if Lyn would let me.

BG> She won't even let me buy an ultra-light either. |-)

funny that, i've the same trouble with wendy, it was even her idea for

me to sell my hang glider - something to do with the landing that left

the nose and tail pointing in the same direction (: still, due to my

great piloting skills, i limped away uninjured (: gotta have a go at

paragliding though - one of these days.

                        Keith

... If you aren't living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
