Hi,
It was my own damn fault I was bitten, I do know better -just had to push
it. The owner of the pet store paid 249.00 for her, which is exactleywhat I
just paid him for her.
I know this is what he paid because I have been in touch with the breeder
already. There is a shortage of Ringnecks in this area ,there are currently
only 3 breeding pairs in the province.I am located in British Columbia,
Canada. Since I brought her home and started her on a proper diet her colors
are changing, I also noticed that as of yesterday she has started to molt.
The neckring is alittle more pronounced than it was, her wing coverlets are
olive green -whats left of her flight feathers after the *%$*#** butchered
her appear a very dark blue-green. Her body is light green and yellow mixed,
her undertail is yellow and the topside of the tail is an irridescent aqua.
Her true sex may be questionable I haven't ventured close enough for the
pelvic exam yet. As I mentioned I have spoken to the breeder,I could trade
her in now for breeding but I'm going to wait. If in 8-12 months she hasn't
come around I may do so. He has offered me a baby Ringneck or a baby Sun
Conure.
I do hold out hope though-Jade will eat seeds or apple from my hand with
no hesitation in or out of her cage. She is noisey, in the morning and when I
come home from work if I don't give her what she figures is quick enough
attention she screeches (needless to say I do not come running for this
behaviour) when the screaming gets no response she then yells "Hello" this
gets her a sunflower seed. She has also started to mimic the clicking of the
keyboard.
She is bored and doesn't understand toys. I keep showing her how to ring
bells, tug rope etc she will shake her preening rope once and a while so I
hope she will get it.
Since I started to work at the store I have found out what the markup is
like, the standard seems to be double the wholesale cost for birds.
