Luchenko may have been joking but some of her generals will have
wanted Sheridan dead.

There are 4 military forces active in "Raising Star".
Earthforce space - destroyed.
Earthforce Gropos - not yet engaged.
Whitestar fleet - victorious and under the command of Sheridan and Delenn.
Mixed alien Grand Fleet - victorious, with its own commanders and there 
for its own reasons.

After Troy returned Helen to the Greeks many Greeks stayed on to loot
Troy.  There are some very good reasons to leave Sheridan alive and
able to order both fleets to leave.
