PE>> Hi Frank. You sent 4 netmail messages, but you failed to put a
PE>> "To: xxx" in front of them, so they all defaulted to garbage,

FM> So what were the 4 messages, and where are they now?

Make that 3 messages, and I see you have resent them correctly
this time. As for where they go, I really don't know. They
were destined for Zone 53, and I don't know if my system sends
them to Dave Hatch or not. And if it does, I don't know what
he does with them. He seems to pass things on just like I do.
Sometimes someone is running some software which rejects
messages like that, but otherwise, I really don't know.

FM> Why did they default to garbage - don't tell me, another bloody bug
 FM> somewhere along the line.

What default would you like? I'm going to change it to the
user's own address. There is no default at the moment, so
you just get uninitialized variables, which seem to tend to
be 53!

PE>> and none of them will get very far at all. I will modify
PE>> QWK2PKT soon so that it defaults to your own address, so you
PE>> can amuse yourself by sending mail to yourself. BTW, if you
PE>> ran a proper point system you wouldn't need to stuff around
PE>> like this. FREQ MINPOINT.* and take it from there. It's a
PE>> FAR better way to do things. BFN. Paul.

FM> Well why the fuck wasn't I told about this in the first place? *I* don't
FM> have time to be stuffing around installing new bits of software, and
FM> understanding their bugs & quirks (= bugs), all the time. I just want a
FM> stable system that will send messages to people and get their replies.

If you want a stable system, you should follow MINPOINT **TO**
**THE** **LETTER**. If you touch a single thing thinking "I
know better than this Paul Edwards dickhead", you will be up
shit creek real quick. A proper point uses much more stable
software than the cobbled-together C programs and Telix scripts
that you are now running. As to why I didn't tell you - you
didn't ask. The first thing I knew about it was Brenton
ringing me up asking what your point number was going to be and
when will it be ready! :-) As to why Brenton + co use this
crappy software instead of far superior software specifically
designed for email, you'll have to ask them. I had MINPOINT
long before TinyPoint, and the others will vouch that I did
everything I could to get them to switch to it from their
brain-dead QWK readers. If you're running OS/2, then get
MINPOS2.* instead. BFN. Paul.
