G'day Scott (and Earl),
I guess you have tried the basic settings within Tm 4.21 ?
  Options    Dial Setup
        Prefix   ATDT
        Suffix   ^M
        Connect string  CONNECT
        Busy string   NO CARRIER
                      BUSY
                      VOICE
                      NO DIAL
       Break string   RING^M
       Cancel string  ^M
       Dial Time     45          }
       Redial pause 7 } your choice
       Redial attempt  60        }
        No   Auto baud detect
        X    Auto redial
        X    Multiple line

  Options    Communication
       Modem init string   ATS0=0Q0E1X4^M~~~AT&C1M1^M
       Modem hangup string  ^#~~~+++~~~ATH0^M~

From what you describe I am thinking along the lines of incorrect
hangup between calls, causing problem dialling another number??
The fact that you can dial okay from Terminal, suggests a setup
problem with Dial.
I can't comment on the USR Sportster, as I use a Maestro.
Good talking to you

 Thanks for the response. Yes, setup is ok, infact using the exact
 same config as I have used successfully with 4.20 since the beginning.
 No problem with 4.20, problem with 4.21. I agree with you, it
 appears to be a problem with the dialing directory. Even when
 it is the first call after the modem is turned on and initialized.
 Earl.

Hi John,
Thanks for the tip. It works. I thought is what I had to do, but I
wanted to check with all the TM experts out there first.
BTW, How is that BBS of your going? Look at your user list, for a hint
why I asked.
Cheers,
Shane
