That is something everybody should do. We set up a demonstration at my son's
Boy Scout Troop and let each of the boys put out a small fire in a pan. Most
of them (along with a few of the adults) were surprised that just pointing
the nozzle in the general direction of the fire didn't put it out
immediately. My son had learned the same lesson a week earlier when the next
door neighbor's car caught fire and he put it out with one of the kitchen
extinguishers.
