subject: Give up? A `Guru` did!?

Hi everybody,

     About "misinformation" of March 9:

Well, it seems Winston has made a point about this, after all: our
echo DOES thrive on controversy only; as much as a fraction of the INet
seems to depend on it when Charles Angelich has total/exclusive control!

CA> ...wrong 'path'... Fortunately there are so few FIDO users...

Hummm... It sounds like there's a real possibility it's propaganda
when a user who feels an urge to betray his "friendship" begins to scare
the others away right when the only guy known to have made `ZMoDem' work
over ~TelNet~ in his DOS program is available & ready to discuss it; it
certainly seems like propaganda when that same user feels that it may be
necessary to gain control of a discussion by moving it to his ~WEB~ site
where it actually becomes a monologue. Now, not only does it sound like
propaganda, or taste like it but it definitely *IS* propaganda when this
same user feels he has afforded the right to enjoy his victory by making
the site known by any search site/engine he could find... The fact that
words like "nutcase zealot", "lunatic" and
"egomaniac" seem justified in
his eyes shows the tilt in balance made him feel great, about himself...

Not only is it propaganda but that's pretty much a pre-emptive move
to me; in the course of the last five years i've seen (and learned) too
much of this name-calling for it to be a coincidence: Charles uses them
all so that his adversaries wouldn't know what to use! Doesn't it sound
like child play where one happens to have developped a "big mouth?! %-o

CA> ...the days are numbered... ...in this echo or any other FIDO echo.
CA> Anyone lurking out there who really is interested in using DOS on
CA} the Internet and/or for BBS'g can go to my tech website...
                                      ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Charles's thinking suffers from asymetries: he has lamed for years
about the lack of options but he didn't care to try when he could. This
echo is dying, `FidoNet' with it, yet it's good enough to advertise? On
top of that, he does so while he depens on the work made by many others!

He knew he only needed to wait until the last demonstration archive
disapeared to be able to write "see, i told so"... and shure enough the
`PC/NFS' demo did vanish. After all, some sorts of interfaces are wrong
for him, so much that he stated it clearly and publicized it world-wide:

The use of older DOS dialup terminal software to telnet to BBS
and do zmodem transfers is a futile effort. The zmodem
transfer will not work properly on 99% of your connects. Use
-> of RLFOSSIL, TELAPI, ODI, and other oddball drivers is not
recommended unless you have time to kill and need a challenge.

-> Fossil drivers were not intended as a crutch for poorly
written terminal software. The fossil driver was initiated...

And blah! Blah! Blah! Poorly written terminal SoftWare hey? How
Charles qualified `MS-Kermit' lately?! What of `{Commo}', `TerMail'? I
have a hint why Charles Angelich feels necessary to pose as an expert of
~FOSSIL~ interfaces: he must have fought over it (typical), that's why!
This history revisionism sounds funny, when i read a post about ~FOSSIL~
it has another side to it: the SysOps relied on ~FOSSIL~ drivers to get
"High Speed", they refered to 28 Kbps MoDems in these terms back then...

Of course the ~FOSSIL~ interface evolved from the old ~BIOS INT-14~
interface; the parallel port has been thru the same path and yet we got
all sorts of powerful devices attached to it in the end, it's evolution!

The fossil driver was overkill and remains overkill for
general telecom use. I recommend ignoring this waste of
          time/space.

Yeah, shure... "OverKill" if `ZMoDem' data must flow thru it, on a
8088 PC maybe and yet, he won't mention how usefull a ~FOSSIL~ interface
can still be TODAY, `COM/IP' being an example where the project supports
a thriving ~FO$$IL~ implementation - guess what's Charles's alternative!

CA> It is not necessary to pay $$$ for DOS Internet applications...

Oh, come on, Charles! Stop repeating that `PC/TCP' is 168 $, which
is probably inaccurate anyway: the cost must have dropped since 2001!!!

What Charles doesn't want to mention on his site, or anywhere else,
is that `IVT' worked pretty well but it required `PC/TCP' and that alone
was enough ground for him to kill the embryo of a debate which never was
held, thanks to his irresistible urge to stand under the "spotlights"...

CA> There are always people who don't see the light of the oncoming
CA> train and there always will be.

I've seen what the light is like, the "spotlights", actually; i've
seen the train too: information which is so biased and incomplete there
should be no doubt in the mind of a reasonable person!!! This train has
a name which should sound familiar with Charles around: *PROPAGANDA*...

It's EASY to write that DOS is dying and to wait that it happens, i
got another word to qualify this when one makes shure that the remaining
users have no hope left for improvement and any potential developer will
be discouraged since one made it look like no one cares - when every one
else scared away and those remaining wanted more controversy... Charles
made shure his original statement will remain valid in *APPEARANCE*, few
words in his own colourful vocabulary would qualify this accurately. In
any case, Charles's obstruction is no surprize: *I* discovered `IVT'...

                                         Salutations, ;^>

P.S.: Some well advised people consider that circumstancial evidence is
no evidence, the "Big Mouths" must try empirical proof instead...
