On 12-26-97, DAVID HARTUNG declared to ROBERT PLETT:
DH> exactly what he ought to do, stand up for his convictions! I am
DH> extremely tired of conservatives being told that our philosophy is so
DH> bad, it ought not even see the light of day, and I am equally tired of
DH> those who preach tolerance, practicing intolerance!
DH> As for Mr Horn, this case is a prime example of the destructive nature
DH> of the ACLU.
Indeed.
For a nice pick-me-up, I recommend to you and to everyone else the same
reading I recommended to Kieth for different reasons: Governor Fob
James' letter to Judge Ira Dement at:
     http://www.state.al.us/news_rel/dement.html
Triggered by the prayer in schools issue, that letter is a most
refreshing read, despite its length, and has lots of history in it that
few have ever heard mention of.
Early on, the Governor asks the Judge how the two of them as
constitutional officers can obey Supreme Court decisions openly based on
propositions antithetical to their oaths of office. Said propositions
he then lists, amounting to about half, or better, of the letter's 2nd
page. |-)
