Actualy you are wrong ... Im still getting 33.6 ( v34+ ) connects almost 
every day to an ISP and in case that almost all time FTP transfers i geting  
are ~ 3.7-3.9 kbps for zips on v34+ ( if line quality dont make trubles )  
but actualy  33.6  connects are about 40% and  40% are  31.2 and 20% other 
speeds .
PS
    both ends  have USR Robotics with V.Everything ( incl. v.34+ )
PSS
    for connect i used analog lines.
