 My husband got Jeremy a Diablo CD.  His new love and now mine to use it
 too.  
 As far as the room goes, Jeremy does it once in a while when he decides
 to revamp his and his brother's room.  Thats when we all celebrate.  My
 daughter use to keep her room a mess when she was smaller.  We would close
 the door unless it spilled out into the hallway and then make her clean it.
 Now I have a new plan.  If I must go into their rooms once a week and clean
 it to find laundry and such, then I charge them for my time.  $3.00 an hour.
 Once or twice of this and attitudes now change.  I give them a warning that
 I must go in and clean (24 hours usually) and that is it.  One warning.
 One chance and time enough to pick the best time that suites them to do it.
 I do not argue with them over it either.  I refuse to listen to any excuse
 over the matter.  If one brother does the cleaning and the other not, then
 the one who did not do it gets charged $1.50 an hour.  My kids love money
 too much to give me any change to get theirs.
