DS>Does anyone out there have any experience with some of the
DS>schools that
DS>run instructor training programs. I am looking to Become
DS>instructor
DS>certified this coming spring and would like to go to a good
DS>facility.
Ther are a few good schools out there. The most are in the South Florida
area.
DS>will probably look to cross certification as well. Some of the
DS>schools
DS>that look at this point like they might have promise are: Pro
DS>Dive,
DS>Dive USA, Halls and the Northeast regional Instructor
DS>development
DS>program for the YMCA.
Most of those schools are good. Beware of Dive USA's advertising! They
promote the man who wrote the book! He is only there for 8 hours, if you are
lucky, and he does not get in the pool.
I took mine from Pro Dive, they were alright. One thing I noticed at the IE
is the students from divers unlimited. I was in a group with them, and all
of them were really sharp. I hate to say it but they were a lot better
prepared than we were. All the students raved about their instructor
trainer. He was an ausie I think, his name was collin. In hind sight I wish
I went to divers unlimited.
I hope this helps you make a decision.
Good luck.
Paul
