While I'm interested by the question and the answer, I can't help but
wonder at the same time if it is really necessary.
While of course it may be usefull to know that you are running on an HPFS
system, if nothing else to use extended attributes or long filename, I
usually stick to more standart features, just because you don't know. One
of the (many) nice things about warp is precisely the ability to use any
file system providing there is a driver for it.
When I need to open a file, I go for the minimalist approach (dos 8.3),
which should work everywhere. In the event that Warp 5 switches to JFS, it
doesn't change anything for me, while I don't know the future of extended
attributes.
That said, since file systems are loaded at boot time, isn't there a way to
request the information from the system ? (driveSysInfo(), WpQuerysystem()
or something ?)
