Pretty cool job huh. I have been frequenting this store (at least weekly )
for about 3 years to buy bird and fish supplies(I used to breed fish).Over
the last two years they have called me on several occasions to deal with sick
or injured birds(avian vets are far and few here), I live 2 blocks away and
could come pretty quickly. To back track I have not been working for a couple
years for two reasons:had three surgeries to recuperate from and I never
wanted to see another accounting office (3 years of college down the drain)
too stressful. Anyway a few weeks ago I was in the store when a woman came
in and started chewing out the owner for selling her a Budgie that she
couldn't touch. He asked her if she was working with it every day, she said
"well I let it out what else should I do" He said I'm not sure ask her. I
gave her the condensed version, and by the time she left she also had toys,
cuddle bone,grit etc.
The owner has been in business for 15 years but he specializes in fish and
doesn't know squat about birds. I am continuosly giving him hell for
something he is doing wrong. As I was walking out that day he hollered after
me and asked if I would consider working there to train the birds, take care
of their diet, toy needs all but cleaning them. I said I'd think about it,
there really was nothing to think about, but couldn't seem too eager.
What I didn't know at the time was that another gentlemen who now owns a
coffeeshop nearby ( but who used to own a pet store) had been telling the
owner for the last couple months if he didn't hire me to take care of the
birds and to be there for the customers questions he was a fool.Because
nobody knew how to tame birds the owner was quite often left with birds that
were getting older and no one wanted.
I have been thinking ofbuying the Ringneck for quite some time. She has
been in the store for over a year, today I brought her home, her name is
Jade.. The other birds have not met her yet, that should be fun.
MH> pair! I am very surprised that Ringnecks so uncommon here as pets.
The only one I have ever seen outside of a book is Jade. They just aren't sold
around here. One quick question do you supply you Ringnecks with grit.
