I have to admit that I've never looked into that style of packet handling,
thinking that finding the appropriate software would be tough.  The usual
echo traffic that I've seen on QWK-style networks over the years was
exactly that: dudes trying to find software to do it with.

Mind you, I've never had a real need to look into it... which is the
driving force for such a thing.
