Hello Dale!

On Wednesday December 06 2006 00:03, you wrote to me:

Have you looked at the Z6 segment of the nodelist recently? It is staring
you in the face! How about this:

Zone,6,ASIA,Sasebo_Japan,Carol_Shenkenberger,81-6160-527330,9600,XA,V32b,V42
,1,ZoneGate_ASIA-North_America,Saskatchewan,Bob_Seaborn,1-306-956-3383,9600,
,2,ZoneGate_ASIA-Europe,Saskatchewan,Bob_Seaborn,1-306-956-3383,9600,XX,CM,M
,3,ZoneGate_ASIA-OZ,Saskatchewan,Bob_Seaborn,1-306-956-3383,9600,XX,CM,MO,MN
,4,Zonegate_ASIA-Latin_America,Saskatchewan,Bob_Seaborn,1-306-956-3383,9600,
,5,Zonegate_ASIA-Africa,Saskatchewan,Bob_Seaborn,1-306-956-3383,9600,XX,CM,M
,1001,"z6-nodelist"_Assist,Z6_Manage_Group,Anatoli_Tung,000-213-219-213-114,
,1004,nwstar.tzo.com,Temp_Zonegate_6,Bob_Seaborn,1-306-956-3383,9600,XX,CM,M

Ok, maybe I should have said: dependant on other zones instead of Z1. It is
pretty obvious however that presently all mail to and from the few
remaining Z6 nodes flows through Z1.

DS> Perhaps they chose to get some of it from Z1 because they can get

Look at the nodelist. Where *within* their own zone would the remaining Z6
nodes get their mail? From ZC6? She is not IP capable and she is on sea six
month of the year. No good.

Next level, the RC's. Of the three RCs listed, none is functional. Anatoli
Tung is off-line (dixit Carol). Lawrence Fan is off line. No POTS number
listed and his static IP number does not have a reverse dns associated with
it. (No Ptr record) That is the equivalent of "This number is no
longer in use". Terri Roati? No contact information at all. Off-line.

Next lower level, the hosts. well, I don't think I have to spit it out, if
you have not got the picture yet, you never will.

Every message in or out of Z6 goes trough a system in Z1 for the plain and
simple reason that there is no one left within Z6 capable of moving mail.
That is the sad but undeniable truth. And it is didn't occur yesterday, the
situation has been like that for years.

There may be a few functional nodes left, but Z6 as a region is dead. Time
to face reality and let go of it.

DS> What are your reasons for getting mail from Z1? [actually, I
DS> cannot verify that you *get* mail directly from Z1, but I can
DS> verify that you *send* mail directly to Z1.]

I have some 20 active links. Many within zone 2, some scattered around the
globe. I send and receive mail from all over the place. I do not depend on
any one in particular however.

DS> Could their reasons be the same?

I don't think so. I do not really *need* any link other than the one to my
hub. For me it is just trying out what I can do with my toys. For them it
is different. None of them have a functioning hub.

Cheers, Michiel
