Yup, I can believe that. Have a pair of '73 Buick Centurians here (next step
up from LeSabre, same body, nicer trim). Both with 455's. Kids don't
understand that what is sold for factory high performance now would not even
make for decent family sedan performance in years past.

Kids don't seem to think that the old brute horsepower and torque was
normally about double the high tech horsepower they have. I think they must
believe you have to have F.I. and computers out the wazoo to be fast.
I'm gping to want to go through the engine on the '73 convert as a future
project. Maybe bump up the compression a bit to '71 specs (before the
unleaded only cars was built) , replace the stock mufflers and resonators
with "turbo" mufflers and that's about it. Should even be more fun then and
still basicaly all stock.
