JT> $5.95 > a month dial-up plan, it still has a *lot* of JT> $5.95 > subscribers (I know, I work in Big > Pond!) JT> That allows for around 20meg or so download a month at about JT> two minutes per day. (not allowing for negotiation times and JT> dropouts). JT> Why is it that the low bandwidth users appear to subsidise the JT> high bandwidth users? Exactly, John. Telstra are idiots. The basic rule is that you never kill the Golden Goose... just keep taking the eggs. Telstra' Golden Goose is local calls. The only thing Telsra has worth shit, is all those wires running all over Australia and the exchanges that connect them. Everything else is just gravy. They have to protect their meat and potatoes. They have to keep those lines humming, the exchanges clicking, spo what do they do... they promote an ISP that is going to tie up a line for hours, for a lousy 25c! I'd like to see a compulsory intelligence test for all executives. It could be quite simple... just give them a loaded gun and see how long it takes them to look down the barrel and pull the trigger. Everyone screams at the poor inadequate bastard running AMP because he lost $5 billion. Ziggy Dickheadski has *halved* the value of Telstra... what? $20 billion? The loaded gun test would solve many of our problems.
