SM>> I'd seriously recommend you look at the USR_SPORTSTER echo
SM>> or comp.dcom.modems for a few days before you do that! I'd
SM>> put my old U-1496S+ back into service before I'd buy *one*
SM>> Sportster.
LE> Your opinion, I do understand it.
SM> OTOH, I think you missed the point.
Nope, I don't think so. I do agree with you, I don't want to be without
my Elite but it could came to that anyway. Just because the lack of
higher speed. :)
SM> First, I have nothing against USR, as a whole. I recommend them
SM> whenever it's appropriate. I own two USR v.everything Couriers (33600
SM> *capable*) and they are fine modems. I also own a 1496S+ which, until
SM> the USR v.34 code stabilized, was the finest modem I have ever owned
SM> (of about 50 or so). I'm anxiously awaiting the ZyXEL LCD model,
SM> which I'm sure they'll build sometime in my lifetime.
Same thing here, I have tried out a lot of different kind of modems, only
one of them has been more or less trouble free, my Elite. :)
LE> I know a lot of folks around here in Sweden that uses
LE> USR Vi, and it works fine for them, no wonder a lot of ZyX users
LE> are looking over the shoulder at USR. I do understand them.
SM> Well, either the Swedish Sportster code is MUCH better than what's
SM> available here in the US, or there will be a lot of sorely
I don't think it's much better.
SM> disappointed Swedish former ZyXEL users - those who sell their ZyXELs
SM> and buy Sportsters! That's why I suggested browsing comp.dcom.modems
SM> for a bit, so you could see just what sort of problems the Sportsters
SM> are causing.
Me, and a lot of others does not have Internet in that manner, so it
could be a little bit tricky to see this.
SM> As I said earlier, I've no particular problem with USR, or the Courier
SM> line, but I wouldn't have a current Sportster as a gift!
I don't mind a gift like that. :)
