another FTN (fido-alike) network, or internet newsgroups?  (List Name/s)

Thanks in advance for answering these questions.  I have not seen anything 
like this in this area and thought posting this might serve more than one 
purpose...  People who read but never write anything can use this to break 
the ice, and people who use this area regularly probably don't know that much 
about the other regulars!
