As an owner of a Honda Civic HX CVT coupe that gets 34 mpg city and 38 mpg
highway, that's why I'm SO glad I bought that car in the first place. (^_^)
My fuel bills are usually 1/3 that of people who own SUV's.
I think that within a year companies like Ford, Honda, Nissan and Toyota
will see booming demand for the Focus, Civic, Sentra, Corolla and Echo
models respectively as people suffer from the sticker shock of gas prices
averaging $1.85/gallon or more. By the way, Honda is supposed to have a new
Civic model due this September that will offer not only better gas mileage,
but actually more power than the current models. I do know that demand for
the Toyota Corolla has picked up lately, as I've seen NUMMI plant in
Fremont, CA (where the US-market Corollas are built) running full-blast to
keep up with demand.
