There is ANSI/ISO SQL (1986), and the ANSI SQL-89 and ANSI SQL-92
standards. Also there is an SQL3 in the works, but I don't know much
about it. And as you say, vendors implement them to their own taste.
There was a review awhile ago in PC Magazine that said Delphi's 32-bit
version of the BDE (Borland's Database Engine) was suppose to be SQL-92
compliant.
Compliant to me means that it supports ALL features of the standard.
Maybe a better terminoloy would be "Full SQL-92 support" or "Fully
SQL-92 compliant."
But then I don't use SQL, so it doesn't matter too much to me
personally. :-)
