  Jess is the same. The food can lie there all day and she only eats
when she's hungry.

  The Lebanese lady next door has taken a liking to Jess and feeds her
chicken scraps (they seem to boil everything!). She has the attention
span of a fruit fly. I keep telling her not to feed Jess chicken bones
but in a week there they are again... so I explained it carefully:
that the bones splinter and will tear the dog's stomach, and then I'll
have to go in next door and murder her entire family. I think she
understands now.
