A few years back, I was involved in a project where I analyzed *all* the
FEC records that were available on magnetic tape. One thing that I
discovered is that *hundreds* of people run for president every
election. Only the ballot qualifications that the states set up keep the
number of choices down.
It still doesn't prevent "total idiots" from getting elected.
