WMP 6.x is MPLAYER2.EXE. I don't think this ever played CDs. =
CDPLAYER.EXE did that. I believe the even older MPLAY32.EXE could play =
CDs but it wasn't something you would call a CD player. All of these = are
obsolete as applications replaced by Windows Media Player.

I'm pretty sure it plays CDs too. Does it have anything in its options
dialog about media types or CDs? Browse through the actual menus, not =
help.
