PE> If Fidonet said that there is only to be one Paul Edwards in PE> the world, and he is to reside at 3:711/934.9, then the entire PE> world can put remaps in to send any incorrectly addressed mail PE> to 3:711/934.9. The address is there for a reason, it's because PE> Fidonet doesn't operate like that, and I don't like having to PE> interfere with normal addressing. THAT's the problem. BFN. PE> Paul. But we're only talking about 3:711/934, Paul. You *know* how many Rod Speeds there are here, and what his real point address is. The problem comes if someone sends netmail to Rod Speed with the address 3:711/934.12 and means me. If you remap everything with "Rod Speed" to his point, then you might be doing the wrong thing if the sender has used the wrong name, and you shouldn't... but if you remap everything to Rod Speed only if it does not have a point address (ie just 3:711/934) then you have a fail-safe system. If the address is insufficient... then you remap. You would not be interfering with normal addressing. If I send netmail to Rod from the PCUG board, then I have to address 3:711/934... without a point number. If you don't remap, he'll never get it.
