| subject: | DIR piping under Win2000 |
Hello, All;
Owing to the PSU on the Win95 machine at work burning out, they gave me a
Win2000 machine. The command-prompt emulation seems to have rather a lot
of unfortunate irritations that weren't there in earlier Windows versions.
One is bizarre - I seem to be able to redirect DIR to a file, but not to a
pipe, i.e.
dir *.txt /b > dir.lst works
dir *.txt /b | lmod /L* [] fails
The machine is tied to a Citrix thin-client network, and maybe there's a
problem with the set-up. Does anyone know if Win2000 "DOS box" DIR is
meant to work better than this?
Current solution - use Stan Peters' LILDIR or Charles Dye's MDIR, both of
which still work OK in pipes.
Thanks in anticipation,
Robert.
