The trouble facing the Air Traffic Control System
WASHINGTON - March 4, 1998 2:30 p.m. EST -- Gathered at the long
table in the Cabinet room of the West wing, the president's Cabinet
recently listened to Vice President Al Gore - "the techno-nerd," as
some at the gathering have described him - drone on about a technical
glitch that will hit most computers in the year 2000.

Venob talks about Air Show with Dogwood Festival
By Sam Venable, News-Sentinel columnist
Warm or chilly, however, with blossoms or without, there's simply
no better time to be in East Tennessee than during the Dogwood Arts
Festival. Natives and newcomers alike will attest to that.
Among the highlights of this year's shindig will be a huge air show
May 2-3 at the Tennessee Air National Guard Base. The Air Force
Thunderbirds will perform in F-14s. In addition, a Stealth fighter
will join the fray. As will the Red Baron Pizza squadron and the
stunt flying team of Patty Wagstaff and Sean Tucker. Bob Hoover is
also scheduled.
"We had an air show in 1995 that drew 180,000 people over two
days," said Neel.
Excellent. I hope as many, even more, show up to watch the airplanes
this time around.
