KR> it is a windows help file off western digital's ftp site with
KR> the product and technical manuals for some of the caviar drives.
KR> it also contains an explanation of eide. if rod downloads it,
KR> he may care to put a message in z3_tech explaining that his
KR> arguments about the number of heads on eide drives were wrong.

RS> Pity it wasnt WD who used that approach Keith, so it proves sweet
RS> fuck all about anything much. Like I said, and you kept ignoring,
RS> that approach was used by some while waiting for the ATA-2 stuff.

KR> then why did you specifically bring up eide?

You were rabbiting on about 'ATA-2 says xxx' so it cant possibly be
true. I pointed out that quite a number of the hard drive manufacturers
had done some of their own enhancements to the ATA standard, mostly
because of their perception that ATA-2 was taking far too long.

And EIDE isnt JUST WD either, its come to be used as a general name
for more than IDE, particularly with the stuff other than the drive
itself, the controllers, multiIOs etc.

RS> Notice you studious ignore the point about your claims about 3KHz
RS> bandwidth on a single copper pair phone line was blown completely
RS> out of the water, regardless of what you proclaimed was impossible.

KR> i like many others was dumbfounded that you would say anything
KR> as stupid as that. full motion vcr quality video in 3khz rofl.

What a complete fuckwit. I never ever mentioned 3KHz once. I used
the phrase 'single copper pair'. YOU were silly enough to jump to
the conclusion that a 3KHz bandwidth was used and made a complete
fool of yourself in the process, as did Bob.

Like I said, 2Mb/s is quite routinely used on copper pair by ISDN.
ADSL get with some power levels 6Mb/s on a single copper pair. Perfectly
adequate for full motion video with the digital compression stuff added.

KR> in that case, i dont need fibre or coax for cable tv, an isdn link will
KR> suffice, 2 64k channels should get me 21 video channels, and the 16k
KR> channel would let me have another 5 for videophone or interactive use.

You are STILL being a complete fuckwit. No one
has mentioned 3KHz bandwidth except you and Bob.

KR> it is interesting to see a brain fart of such monumental
KR> proportions in action. if i was one of your neighbours, i
KR> would worry, when it blows, it may cause widespread damage.

Guess who looks a complete and utter fuckwit now.

KR> you wouldn't care to specify a scientific article, a column inch in
KR> mechanics illustrated, or a story in woman's day to back up your
KR> claims would you?

Pity that *I* never said a thing about doing it over 3KHz bandwidth Keith.
Even you should be able to realise that it is indeed feasible over 2Mb and
6Mbps tho.

KR> or do we have to assume that it is true because you said so as usual?

There is a full Telecom tech report on the ADSL. There is a VAST amount
of stuff on 2Mbs ISDN over copper pair Keith. If you are too thick to
realise that, thats just too fucking bad, I wont be bothering to dig out
the references for you, I have better things to do with my time.

One quick and dirty approach would be to ring Telecom and pretend you
are thinking about PRA ISDN at 2Mb and ask if that can be done on the
copper pair to your house. They wont need to replace it with fiber optic,
and even you should then be able to grasp that it aint 3KHz bandwidth.
