v3.0 is MUCH better in terms of documentation - there's more, its more
readable, and more accurate.

In terms of debugging, the debugger is more versatile, and MUCH more stable,
and has new Icons (not better but different IMHO).

The layout of the directories ( H and LIB etc) is much tidier too.

I know nothing about SOM.

It does have some limitations (eg /Fo can't cope with paths more than
about 20 chars :-() and the new version of NMAKE has a new set of quirks
(eg inline file creation is different).
