-> I'm not looking for great sound -- just something that works well
-> with CDs and occasional times I would be listening to "radio" over
-> the net. Audio dropouts and significant degradadation of system
-> response would not be acceptable but "clock radio" sound is fine.
I had a Yamaha OPL-3 based card, and it's not good with RealAudio unless
you lower the quality WAY down.
I got the Ensoniq PCI card, and it works great with everything I've
thrown at it. RealAudio, playing audio CDs, Midids, wavs, recoding
audio CDs to wav files then compressing them to .mp3 files, and a few
other things I can't think of now.
:)
Oh yeah, price is usually under $40, here in San Diego it's under $30.
