You may very well be right. All of the VMs I have running on my 2008 R2
server are low usage VMs so they run fine for my uses. VM Workstation
performance has gotten better. If I was really concerned about
performance I'd likely just use a physical machine. All virtualization
technology is going to have some overhead.
